Robot Storage Boxes in NorCal region –  updated based on 2019 City Shaper Game Update

The Challenge guide does NOT allow for teams to have off-field storage for items – so there is no side table this year. However, we know that many teams like to bring their robot attachments and jigs in a box.   This policy controls this 1 tray or box.

We will be enforcing the following:

Teams are not allowed to KEEP boxes, carts or tables in the competition area but a team may bring their equipment to the game field in 1 tray or box as allowed in the 2019 Game Update.  The team will need to unload all of their equipment (robot, attachments, Mission 11, jigs, etc) onto the challenge table – either into the Small inspection area or the Large inspection area.

Note that all Missions models must be in view of the referees at all times and this is defined as only the following 2 places:
a) on the challenge table, or
b) temporarily in the hands of either of the 2 team Technicians at the challenge table at that time  (ie not handed to other team members that are not at the table).

Once completely unloaded, the tray or box needs to be “put away”.

The best option – if possible, the tray or box will be put underneath the challenge table.
If that is not possible due to the way that the table is built/setup, then the tray or box will get handed off to a nearby parent/coach in the audience until after the match. After the match, it will get handed back to the team to collect their equipment.

At a few events, there is a “wall” of tables that separates the audience and in those environments, the tray or box could be set on one of the tables.

The tray or box must not remain with the team as experience shows that they will put this on the ground and cause a tripping hazard. We want to encourage and allow all team members to tag in/out as a technician and cheer/encourage their team.
