FLL Registration is open for the 2010 season. You do not have to register today, but registering early is better than later because FIRST will ship your coaches manual and your challenge set to you in an early batch if you register soon.
Coaches manual (and robot kit) will ship out soon after you register and the Challenge Set will ship out beginning August 2. Coaches who register in late summer or early fall will have to wait longer to receive their materials.
Registrations will continue until mid-Sept or until the number of teams allocated for the year are gone, which ever comes first. The goal for the US and Canada is 9,500 teams, and a total of 17,100 teams around the globe! US and Canadian Teams register online

What is a community (aka social network) site? It is a dedicated site for sharing an interest/hobby or similar among a group. In our case, this is a site just for Nor Cal FLL folks - coaches, parents, team members, friends, volunteers and others interested in Nor Cal FLL.
We are encouraging all coaches, team members, volunteers, parents and those interested in supporting/promoting FIRST LEGO League throughout Northern California to join the community site setup just for us: www.norcalfll.org/elgg
You can share photos as well as ask questions and share information about your FLL experience! You have complete control over how much of your information about you that is shared with others. |

What is Kickoff exactly? |

Kickoff is the official "season start" for FLL. On September 3rd at 9am pacific, the robot game and project description documents and official rules are released online.
It is not critical that the team do "something" exactly on September 3rd but the team does need to read and understand the posted items in order to be successful. One other online "doc" section that is important for the team to be aware of and pay attention to throughout the season is the Q&A section which is an ongoing "blog" page that gets updated over time by Scott Evans, the FLL game designer. This is where he posts answers to questions and adds official clarifications. Over the last few years, we have held a get together open to the teams and coaches on or near the kickoff date where Playing At Learning (the FLL Partner) goes over the game and project descriptions as well as clarify rules, answer questions and generally bring a great start to the new season.
2010 BODY FORWARD KICKOFF EVENT will be held between 6-8pm on Friday, September 3th in Mountain View in one of the Google buildings. Names of attendees will be required - details on how to sign up. Maximum ~250 people.
If you want to see a kickoff - previous years video is available on YouTube - one is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp8wLdSTmh8
