2013 Season Info Only

Not update/relevant to 2014 FLL World Class Season

So you checked your team’s status ….   How did the “Eligible to register” column status get decided?

IF the team has a “no” in the Eligible to Register column and you believe this is a mistake  (ie you are confident that all 3 pre-reqs were completed by October 1st),  then please email teaminfo at playingatlearning dot org with details.     We are humans and can make mistakes.

IF the team has a “yet but issue”,  PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL!!   I will email you with a description of the issue.

YES means yes,  even with a “but” attached.  There is a Minor Issue of some sort but yes, there is time to resolve.  And more importantly,  it does NOT have to be resolved before Round 1 registration opens on Oct 10.

We are accepting in good faith that whatever minor issue (see list below for most common issues) there is, that you will resolve in a timely manner once we identify to you exactly what it is.  I appreciate that you want to know – but there is a very large stack of teams that each need a mostly custom email giving specifics.

If you have replied to my email to fix your issue,  I am behind in updating the table  – it is more important to get registration open than it is to update the status table.  There is only truly so many hours in a day….

IF the team has a “yes” –  Congrats!    And a big thank you for following instructions and completely everything correctly –  you are in rarefied air and I appreciate your diligence!

Here are the top issues that we have seen this year with the pre-reqs:

These are SIGNIFICANT Issues which any one will cause you to get a “no” on the “Eligible to register” for the current  Round 1 deadline.

1.  Not actually paying.   If you said “Yes pay by paypal” but did not get redirected to paypal.com and finish paying  (with an email receipt from paypal), then you did not pay.    You can always pay here.  (note that even though it says it is a donation,  the tournament registration $85  fee itself is not a tax deductible donation as the value of what you receive is nearly the same as you paid.)

2. Not completing the team online form completely and hitting submit.  If you hit the “Back” button on your web browswer  (versus the one at the bottom of the form),  you get an incomplete form.

3.  Waivers:   We did not receive your 2013 waiver forms  or did not receive a waiver for at least 1 adult coach and at least 2 team members.

There are many more “insignificant” / minor issues that will allow you to register but must be fixed this month!  Here are the top reasons on why you might have received a  “yes but issue” status…

1.  Wrong date of birth on waiver –  there are no FLL team members born in 2013!   Similar,  many parents seem to add their own DOB on their child’s form –  if the year is not between ~1998 and ~2004,  it is likely to be wrong unless it is a youth mentor…

2.  Missing date of birth for any minor (ie anyone under 18 years old)  – even youth mentors must have a listed date of birth

3.  A photocopied/scanned or faxed copies was sent –  please send the originals!

4.  Shared forms for more than 1 person.   Every single person must have their own individual signed waiver.

5. Wrong number of adult coaches/mentors listed in team online form and/or the count and names  do not match the waivers

7. Wrong number of minor  coaches/mentors listed in team online form nd/or the count and names do not match the waivers

8.  Missing and/or wrong names –  several  have the wrong first or last name or a completely missing name!  We need full legal name of each person.   If a person really is legally only 1 name, please email a copy of that legal document and I will accept it.

A few final notes:

If you have more than 10 members or an implication of more than 10 members ever, you violate FLL participation rules.  The FLL Participation Rules clearly state that all teams must always be 10 or fewer members at any time (in total).  If you ADD members and end up with a total of more than 10 (even if someone dropped),  Playing At Learning reserves the right to declare your team an ilegal team and thus ineligible to win any award if we believe that you are trying to “skirt” this rule.

If you coach more than 1 team AND you do not have a separate identified “supervising adult”  (listed as one of the coach/mentors for that team),   then you must not register more than one team in any qualifier!

Quite a few of you sent in waivers for event volunteers… yes, I know there was a box on the waiver but I am not collecting Event Volunteer waivers!    Every event volunteer must submit a waiver at the specific event that they attend –  you can not say, “well, I turned it into Playing at Learning”   That will not be accepted!
