Based on confirming with FIRST HQ,  we have the following advancement details:

1.  The Peninsula district  (112 teams) is much smaller than the Silicon Valley (164)  or Capital (176) districts. Therefore, the Peninsula District Championship will be reduced to 36 teams in order to have the advancing rate to be inline with the same advancing rate of the other 2 districts.  The other 2 championships will remain at 48 teams.

2. Each district tournament will be advancing roughly 30% with slightly variance due to rounding.  The robot performance hurdle for eligiblity is 55% per the FIRST Advancement Policy – Explanation of how advancement works.

Here are the number of advancing teams per size of tournament for each district:

   # of Teams    Peninsula
District
Silicon Valley
District
Capital
District
12 4 3
16 5 4 4
24 7 7

This year each district will also have a lottery to fill the respective championship as the advancing teams will not completely fill the championship.  The lottery results will be determined by November 24th.
